Determining Wall Rotation

Hey, Y'all!

I'm still a bit of a noobie at building, so please bare with me if this is an old question...

Is there a way to determine the rotation degree of a wall (or any object for that matter?) I am talking about something that I do not own and is not modifiable, so that when I put it in edit mode all of its info is blank.

What I am actually trying to do is "paint" a wall in my new apartment. The walls in this place are a color I don't like and I thought I would just cover the wall with a sheet object that I rez and then make that any color/texture that I choose. Well that works fine and easy with walls that are laid at perfect 90 degree angles, but a few of the walls in my new apartment are odd angles and it takes forever to try to match. If I could see what the actual wall rotation is this would be a snap, but as it is it's driving me nuts.

--Wait a minute--something just occurred to me... Maybe the reason I can't read the wall's rotation degree is because when I've been going into edit mode, I've been looking at the entire building as a whole? If I check "Edit parts seperately" and then point to the wall, will the info I need show up?

Sorry if this question has become convoluted--I just really would like to know how to do this. Thanks for any input here :)

If the owner has the build "locked", you won't be able to ditectly read the prim specs.

Otherwise, make sure "select only my objects" in the Tools menu is NOT checked, and use "Edit Selected" to select just one wall prim at a time, and you should be able to read the prim size, position and rotation info.

Also, be sure to turn on the visual grid tools. When you rotate, a compass rose appears that you can use to see better than without.

Thank you both for the advice, but I the owner does have the build locked, so I cannot see any of the wall info no matter what I do. I guess I'm stuck with this ugly color.

I know it's a real pain, but you can get a near-perfect alignment of your new wall covering to the old wall, even if you don't know the correct rotation. Flatten a cube paper thin and manouevre it close to the wall until it intersects it. Then rotate the flattened cube gently, using the up-down arrows on the number fields in your Edit >> Object window until it doesn't intersect the wall any more. If necessary, move the corrected cube a bit closer to the wall and repeat the exercise until you have the best alignment. Copy down the rotation info and you're good to go.

I know it's a tedious method, but it works, and it's the only option you seem to have left.

I agree with Rolig. It shouldn't be that difficult to position your own prim wall just inside the one(s) that you want to recolor.
