Hi, I looked around for the answer to my question but I have not been able to find a straight forward anywhere. I was just wondering if there is any way to connect prims to flexi prims. I have different ideas that would be very nice if I could do so but so far I have had no luck. If I know a way to do so that would be nice but if there is no way to do it that would be nice to know straight forward. Thanks for any help!

You can link flexi prims to any object.
If you mean, have a prim flopping around at the flexible end of a flexi prim... prims can't be linked hierarchically, they're linked to the base of the root prim of the object, not each other.

The first thing I ever tried to do with a flexi prim was to attacch a hemispherical tip to the waving end of what I hoped to use as a cat's tail. It didn't work. The tip stayed where it would be if the flexi had remained 100% stiff. And I found there is no way to do it.
The problem is that the "flex" in a flexi is all client-side illusion. The prim itself is not really moving at all, and different people at teh same moment see the flexi prim in differnt positions, as their own client generates the illusion of movement.
Additionally, as Argent said, linking of prims is not heirarchical. When you link three prims in a stack to make a tree, and have the bottom prim as the trunk be the root prim, and then try to link another prim at the top of the tree to be a pine cone in its branches, you are not linking that new prim to the top prim. You are recording its relative position to the root prim, and linking it to the Root. Thus, when the root moves or rotates, the whole linkset moves or rotates with it.
If we had heirarchical linking, you could, for example, make a door that uses several prims for the door and a realistic door knob, link the door to a house, and by placing a movement script in the door, move all the parts linked to the door, while not affecting the house. Builders would kill for that ability, but it makes the calculations for displaying our virtual world that much harder to do in real-time, so LL has not tried implementing heirarchical linksets yet. It's a frequent request though, and maybe, some day, we'll get that.

thanks guys! Yeah I just wanted a straight up answer. I have been practicing building for a bit when I was messing around and came up with the question. I even asked a friend who has been building for a long time on SL and he has never tried. I didn't think there would be a way but thought I would ask before giving up.

From: Argent Stonecutter [whisper]i miss joints[/whisper] Agreed. I was just starting with Building when they eliminated that feature.
