Hello, hello. I have a long-term goal of creating a 'Faerie kingdom' within Second Life. I have already made a group called "the faerie circle," and I am recruiting anyone interested. I have been thinking a lot about this, and here are a few of my ideas: -provided I could get permission and support from the Lindens, I was thinking that the faerie kingdom could be a "private island" sort of thing. That is, it's a world that you can't just fly to from the mainland. Not that we don't want visitors, it just fits the "feel" of the place: hidden from the 'mortal' world. -The place would look very exotic, a sort of hybrid between childish and magnificent: silly looking twisty plants all over the place, five-pointed "fallen stars" jutting out of the ground, waterfalls that go up, crystalline-looking buildings, stuff like that. I was thinking the ground might be a different color (maybe purple?) if that's at all feasible. -I'm working on a number of "archetypes" (wind faerie, fire faerie, prism faerie, etc) that people could use as AVs. I might need a little help actually constructing them. Actually, I'll probably need a lot of help with this project in general! -I sort of go back and forth between the fantasy and contemporary looks with my faerie AV. Sometimes I'm wearing an elegant black dress, and other times I'm wearing jeans with flames on them. I think that would be a neat thing about the faerie kingdom, if it were hybrid between fantasy and modern in some respects. -I was thinking about having music in a lot of places around the kingdom, but that might be a lot of trouble, and it might just end up being annoying most of the time. I know there are a lot of Second Life faeries out there, and I want to bring them all together with this project. Anyone who is at all interested in joining the project, contributing work, donating, anything... you can just contact me (Shei Domino) in-game. I could do with a LOT of help with this project. I have relatively few SL talents, but I know that near-infinite talent exists within the community. Volunteers and contributions would be much appreciated. I suppose that's the jist of it. I hope that I can get the ball rolling here and create yet another great part of the Second Life world. Shei

I'd be interested but unfortunately I'm out of game for awhile. Hopefully I'll be able to help sooner then later. Good luck, it sounds like a wonderful project.

Avalon! It would probably be possible to set a sim so there is only one way in, and in other directions all you see is the mist... I've been working on an arrangement that could also be used to create a "mythical" land of faery - check out my tree site in Slate. If you fly down the valley to the little bridge over the creek, a giant tree will appear bit by bit, and vanish again when you depart. It's been a long-time dream to see a whole forest do the same. I'm afraid that in the meantime, I've traded my lightwings for a set of ailerons and a jet engine . But, I love the concept, I hope to hear more about it soon!

Picky people will fight over the spelling of the world "Faerie" (my preferred spelling, bwahaha)... how 'bout Kingdom of the Winged People?
Hehe.. just stirring up some trouble..

If this gets going, and you need some scripting help, let me know. I think it would be a fun idea, but I don't know how much success one would have at getting the Lindens to add another Sim. But if it does take off, I'll lend a hand. Sounds like it could be fun. And perhaps just the Kindom of the Fey, to allow for other fey'ish folk (Nymphs, sylphs, brownies, etc...)

In lieu of another sim, one could find some land in a far corner of the world where there is no planned expansion to take place... that would lend a bit of the desired mystique to it (if land like this can be found!!) I'm interested... just need to see if I can afford it.

Hehe.. I once held the land in the south-west corner of Federal (about 1/6th sim worth)... There is a possibility one could convence the current occupents (which I believe still is few) of something.

(by the way, "Fey" can also be spelled "Fae" from what I've experienced... mweehee...)
But eh, on a more serious note, I think there could end up being a problem with the "teleport only" method of reaching the Sim. If one person wants it for a sim, future requests will be more frequent, until we're left with the "private sim" concept that hasn't come out yet.
Evie's island is the only sim accessible only by teleport, and that is because it was won in a contest. But I do enjoy this idea. Not sure I'd be a part of it (Daemioth with wings?) but nevertheless it's creative and I'd like to see some more stuff goin' on like this.

I know this thread is a bit old, but I've been exploring everything Fai, Fey, Fay, Phae, Faery, Faerie, Faierie, Faiery, Fairye, Farie, Fayerie, Fayery, Fayry, Feiri, Fery, Feyrie, Feyrye, Phairie, Pharie, Pherie in SL (LOL!) and would be happy to talk to anyone doing the same.
Just send me an IM in world.
Thanks, Thea

What you are going to need is either a sponsor with deep pockets to buy the sim for you, or a co-op of several Players willing to invest in financing it. You won't get a free sim from LL for this, though I certainly think it would be a great project. Financing it will be the very difficult hurdle you'll have to overcome.
Assuming you can find your Leprechaun's pot of gold and finance it, all the rest is certainly feasable, and is even quite easy. Strange colored terrain is a snap, if it's a private island sim and you own it. Fallen stars and the like are just prim props. You could make the sim accessible only to members of a specific group, and hidden from the eyes of all other "Mortals". You'd probably want to place one or more "Faerie Rings" on parcels in other sims, where people can get info on the group and the sim, can apply to join the group, and can get the landmark needed to access the sim.
Good luck! May the Fae be with you!
