Hey there

I have a question. I did a bulding but I have to mov it to another terrain, probably another island.
The question is how to do it in a big proportion? I mean, are there a way to tranfer it to a kind of "inventary" but the entire building?

Tks a lot

You can simply select the whole building, furnishings and all, and take it into inventory. The last item selected will be the name that shows in inventory, as a single object. But it's all there. So you may want to make a single prim, name it "My entire home from old sim", and select that last, before taking it into inventory.

To select the whole build, make sure "Select only my objects" is checked in the Tools menu. Then click one part of the house, move your camera to view the site from above, then hold down shift and click-drag, starting on the ground to one side of the structure. and dragging a selection rectangle to select everything as needed. If you did the trick I mentioned with a single named prim for labeling this mass-selected group, hold down shift, click that prim to de-select it, then click again to ensure it is the last selected item. Now take the selected group into inventory...

Go to the new site, make SURE you have enough prims available to rez everything you just picked up, and open the Build pallette in edit mode. Then drag the whole build back out of inventory. All the selected pieces will appear, still selected. Carefully move the resurrected build into position as required, and you're done.

you could also use builders buddy to collect all of the house in...it will also record the location of each part of the building. Check out LSL wiki for the builders buddy script...it is very handy!

Ceera's method is actually a lot easier if you're happy with clicking/selecting stuff in edit mode, which builders usually are. It's how I move my big builds. I only use rez-faux for houses I sell because it takes a bit less explanation, though it's not really easier.

I recall some time ago, discussions among buidlers that have built structures for others in situ and had to 'sell' each linkset to their customer to transfer the build to the customer''s name. This was a tedious process for the customer and builder, and often resulted in a number of prims not being transferred due to the sheer volume and forgetting a few.

Would it not be easier to just select the build, put it into a box, sell the box to the customer, have the customer grant you modify rights, and then return the build back to where it was before?

I ask since I am getting into large buids now too and want to make sure that I am transferring the build completely to the customer. The only difference is that I am building the structure on my land and helping the customer move the build to its final home later.

Annother advantage with using Builder's Buddy is that you can package the entire build in a one prim box, transfer ownership of it to the new owner, and they can rezz the build from the installation box, and rerezz it again in the future if they move to a different location.

Hey people.
Thanks for the answers. I just moved everything in parts in some suffered hours.. but it´s moved already...
That´s something SL should improve in a future, because I can see it´s a big problem that affect other people like me.
Anyway, I will try to use this builder buddy script in the next time.
Can anyone tell me exactly how to use it? I never use script in SL.

Thanks a lot

Using Builder's Buddy is fairly simple.

There are two scripts: a component script and a master script. All parts that you want to place must be copyable. It can't include Linden Plants, since they have no way to add a script to them.

You add a copy of the 'component' script into each linkset or loose single prim in the build, then take a copy of each piece into your inventory.

Then you make a 'box', a single prim of your choice, place it next to the build, and put the master script plus all the copied linkset pieces (the ones you seeded with the component script) into that box prim. I usually place the box at the front door, or in position as a "corner stone" at one corner of the foundation.

Touch the box, and it brings up a menu.

Select "Record", and it records the positions of all the component parts, relative to the box prim. Take a copy of the box prim into inventory when it is done.

The other menu commands allow you to move the build, remove the component scripts from the build, or clean up all the pieces to start over.

When you place the box prim out again, touch it and select Build, and it will make a new copy of the house, in the same relative position to the box as before.

Move the box, and touch it again to select "move", and the build will relocate, once again in position relative to the box.
