Yet again: Full Bright not Light!

Maybe it's still being missed, but I think the word needs to get out about the FULL BRIGHT option in the texture properties tab. Everywhere I go, I keep seeing junk -- new junk, like movie posters and money chairs (even an entire motor yacht) -- built from Light material.

Hey! Light causes Lag. Please only use Light for ... lights, say? Use Full Bright for those cases when you just don't think anyone will see your big-ass money chair otherwise. What, you LIKE lag?

Perhaps the first time a Resi selects Light as a material, a friendly popup could come up informing them of the benefits of Full Bright?

Especially with Local Lighting even being slower in 1.7-1.8 than it was in 1.6.

There's a lot of Light objects in the default Linden builds. Like the lanterns in my Wright house (and boy is that a primmy build... I saved almost 100 prims by doing things like replacing their 10-prim (!) lanterns with single-prim ones).

Also, light doesn't cause lag if you turn local lighting off. :) But then you can't tell if the object you just bought is made of light just by looking at it. :(

I wish you could turn local lighting off but still see when an object was a light... someone said there was a "light glows" option in debug, but turning that on doesn't do anything for me.

I love full bright! When it came out I ran around and turned everything on full bright that I could.

Many things contribute....

Old tutorials..

Old builds *I'm working on one now and ripping out all unwanted lighting.

Old habits... people who know better still doing it out of habit.

One of the problems is that the two choices are on totally different tabs. To a casual builder it doesn't look like the two are related at all.
