You can either do them in SL or out of SL you might want to look around but one place is
http://www.nicolaescher.com/tutorials.php
Another is
http://www.mermaiddiaries.com/search/label/Building%20Things%20in%20SL

You tube also has now got video's on how to do stuff in SL

if you need any help just ask when I am online and I will try and do my best.

If it's silks your after , stop by the Fashionetics store in the sim of Ambulyx , there's a machine there that will build you a prim silk . The voice narrated tutorial will guide you through the process and as the machine builds the silk, you will get a real good idea on how it's done . After the silk is built all you have to do is link , texture and attach the silk to various parts of your avi .

I think with silks the biggest thing to know is how to manipulate a cylinder to make it long and flexible. You also need to hollow, cut and taper it and link several of those together. That creates the flowing silk that you see. There are probably many ways to do it though. The rest of the silk is just a texture and would be similar to creating a bikini. A lot of it requires basic knowledge in making clothes in SL and building things out of prims. Try going to NCI and check what kind of classes they have or possibly talk to one of the staff there.
