Cannot Edit Linked Parts.

Yesterday I bought a house. I rezzed it and my lady friend moved it into position.

I am able to mod & copy the house with no problem. She has rights to my objects in Friends. She was able to move the entire house when I rezzed it. When I had to delete the first house we put up she was able to help delete the parts. Then I rezzed another copy.

She can edit and move an entire section of the house. What she cannot do is to select a section and then Edit Linked Parts. She can work with the entire section but cannot set edit linked parts and work on just one object.

She is in the group that the house is set to.

Any ideas on this?

Its supposed to work, editing linked parts, but often you just have to unlink a specific part, edit, then relink. its especially bad when trying to resize a prim, they tend to snap back into their original position.

Visit Virgin Isle Marina for SL's best selection of boats, yachts, jetskiis, snowmobiles, atvs and more. Plus Virgin Isle Bazaar for a full sim of furniture and prefab homes.

This happens when the max distance between linked prims is exceeded.

Yup. I have tried to edit linked parts of a building that was packaged with rez faux before completely unpacking it. Resized prims don't stay resized, and my guess is that the system "thinks" the prims are too far apart because it's seeing the whole building as a single linked structure. After you finish unpacking, the various linked units in the building are separate objects and each prim is within that object's distance limit, so a resized prim no longer snaps back to its original size.

A friend and I (we have given each other edit permission for our stuff) have been seeing identical problems with linksets since yesterday. Since LL has been going around turning off services related to friends and groups when the system gets loaded, we thought it might be related to that. Will have to peek at this during a slower period to see if it persists.

make sure you don't have "select only my ojects" checked. if you do, you can of course edit your friend's stuff, but you have to re-select it after you've opened the edit window. but it won't let you select "edit linked objects". i had a hard time figuring that out, lol
