wrong forum, try texturing tips... one of the local gods of texturing will then direct you to the stickies, espeacially regarding skins.... as for photo realistic skins there are a few people that do them (like namasor daguar (sp??)) but they aren't cheap, because the require LOTS of work

I am assuming that you mean an avatar shape. There is no way to upload a shape from any third party software. You can only make a shape using the Second Life appearance editor.

Appearance is a combination of two major things and then accessories. The first is shape and there is no way to import that, you either have to get good with the sliders in your appearance options or find someone who is. The second is the skin and that is done outside SL usually in Photoshop or some other editor and imported as a texture. A great skin can make a good shape look like a million lindens  but a poor shape will still look bad even with the very best skin.
