Hello. I've been working now for a rather lengthy period of time trying to create a certain shape. The shape that I am trying to create is highlighted in these two pictures: The shape is on the back end of the "Tachikoma". I've been trying to create this shape using various methods, my latest attempt has been through two cylinders, using top shear. Though it can make a rough version of the shape, it still isn't good enough for what I need. I was hoping other people here could either sell me a similar shape they have made, or to show me how to make a better one. Any and all help would be greatly appreciated. Oh, and though it is slightly off topic...I'm a Ghost in the Shell nut.

I have actually seen tachikomas being sold last week while I was searching around for female armor. Pity I did not take note of its location, so I'm afraid you'll have to search for it yourself. Try the keywords "armor" "armour" "mecha", those were the ones I used.

There is a tachikoma available for sale on the 5th floor of Furnation Skymall, on the North East corner, as I recall. It's even blue. Haven't looked closely at it, but I see it frequently when I go to check on my own vending space, which is just down the aisle from that one. I presume it's an avatar, as it isn't all that large, but it might be a smallish vehicle. Can't recall offhand if it has the part in the back that the original poster is trying to make, however.

Thanks guys, I'll check it out. Hopefully I can see how (if) he/she made the back piece, and try to duplicate it.

Checked this out today. It's definitely a blue tachikoma, but the maker of that one just used a squashed sphere for the back piece. Made it a rather football-shaped ovoid. It certainly did get the general effect, but wasn't the level of detail the original poster wanted. The 4 legs were sculpted quite well, however.

My suggestion is to use tori and build a box type shape with 6 of them, This would probably give you enough control to pull off that shape, and since tori have rounded edges it might work for where they come together. If not then you can always make some spheres for the 4 vertical edges so they curve correctly. It's an interesting proposition, I'd try building it now if the grid wasn't down...
BTW I'm a GITS nut too, I love Tachikomas
