hi there,
I have been experimenting with prim clothing but because i am unable to unlink prims while they are attached it takes quite a long time to get the results i want.
I was wondering if there is a way around this or any sort of workaround that you people use.
Also is it possible to make a mannequin out of my current body shape or one i could purchase somewhere?
Thanks for any help or ideas you have

The best way is to create the outfits while _not_ attached. Place yourself on a pose stand (all AOs disabled) and build the outfit around your AV. When it's finished, you can wear it and fix position.

Pose stands are generally free look around on Sl exchange or Sl boutique.

You probably have one in your inventory ... search for an object named "Pose stand" or Stand

There are also tools for making skirts and other objects too. You don't have to do all the hard work yourself.

I found this approach useful when making shoes. I get my shoe started on the floor. When I am ready to try it on the avatar, I take a guess at how many more prims I am going to need to complete it. I shift drag on useful building pieces til I have several copies and I leave them hanging so they are within reach but not blocking my view of the shoe. I link the whole mess, wear it on my avatar's foot and then I can reshape and move the extra pieces and continue to build the shoe. When I am done I drop the shoe and delete any extra prims that I didn't use.

I made a prim mannequin to help me build prim clothing. I build the clothing around the mannequin, tweak it, and when I'm ready, I take the clothing I developed and try it on my avatar like people suggest above. then I tweak it some more. I seem to work better if I'm building on a separate form, rather than on my own avatar. Helps me to visualize and I can keep my work on the mannequin for a while. Plus, I like the way it looks as it is standing in my studio Anyway, I have a male and female version for sale in my shop at Dark Couture in Tean.
