So I got bored and started making some prim hair... I'm on a stand placing the hair prims one at a time. I finish the hair and I click and drag and highlight it all and link it. It looks FANTASTIC in terms of its position on my head while i'm on the stand... I take the hair into inventory and I now want to wear the hair like any normal avi would so I attach it to my skull and BAM! The hair position no longer looks FANTASTIC, it looks horrible. It's upside down, my shoulder is trying to share the hair, it's everywhere but where it should be... HOW, omg HOW?! do I get the hair to maintain it's position??? THANKS

This is normal for attachments. just edit the attached hair and rotate/move it into position; it will remember it's location when re-attached. (I find this easiest to do on a posing stand)

i find it's often helpful to have a neutral parent prim for complex attachments like this -- i.e. a small sphere that wouldn't be seen (would be "inside" the head) which has a rotation set to 0,0,0 (or whatever is most useful to your situation)
every time you make changes and select all your prims, select this one last (or drag select, then hold down the shift key and click it to deselect, and still holding down shift, re-click on it to re-select). The last selected prim will be the parent and this will define rotation
by always having the same prim defining rotation, you can at least have consistency in terms of what it does on your head when you attach a new, edited version.
and yeah, rotating attachments is easier when on a posing stand rotated to a 90 degree plane
