I'm sure the answer to this will be a flurry of links to the other times it's been asked in these forums, but my search-fu is weak tonight. Apologies if you've heard this too many times before!

If I'm commisioned to build something on someone else's land, what's the easiest way to transfer it to their ownership once I'm finished without removing it from the position it has been put in?

If there's more than one way, what are the pros and cons of each - frex: I was considering selling the original for 0L$ but of course that'd have to be timed to when they were standing next to it to ensure they got it first...

Thanks for your help!

Link as much as you can, then set the object(s) for sale in the person's presence for $0L. I personally would Link, take a copy, remove, and reset the larger pieces (if it was too big to link as one unit).

If it's a high traffic sim, you might want to have the land owner temporarily put up ban lines until the transaction is complete. Wouldn't take more than a few minutes, but during that time you'd be safe from a random intruder scooping it up. Unlikely scenario, perhaps, but you'd probably both feel better with the safeguard in place.

I build the structure, link as much as I can, select the entire thing - take to inventory, copy in inventory and put someplace safe, then take the original building and transfer directly to new owner - new owner places building, gives me edit rights, I fix up any issues, placements etc and then I am done.

link as much as you can and make backups. if it's not too complex of a build (i.e. with landscaping and walkways all in separate linked objects) you can mark down the position of the object (x, y z coordinates) in the description of each linked object, then transfer directly to the person for them to place if they're able.

regardless, make backups. if you mess up the permissions and sell original, you have no way to get it back.

If it's a sloppy build, and the people involved are more trustworthy than organized, you could do it by land transaction. Really bad idea in most instances, but I could imagine scenarios where it would make a lot of sense.
