Hi :) Ive been trying to figure out a way of taking an item out of inventory without
clicking on the ground below, and rezzing it down on the ground. I have a skybox
with the walls inside textured as transparent. Now the problem is to bring out ballsets
or furniture without sending them to the ground below. Any way to do that? Thanks for
the help.

Hey,

As long as you have a platform just rez them on that, like you would on the ground.

edit: On anything that isn't 100% trans you shoudl be able to rez it. If you don't have anything up there. Go on the ground, rez a cube, edit the coords so theya re in the your skybox. Fly up to your skybox and rez stuff on that cube. Then proceed to moving it around.

Remember to sit on the prim while you're at it. It'll save you time flying there.

You can also wear the platform on your avatar, fly to where you want it, then right-click on the worn platform to get the pie menu, and select 'drop'. It will drop it at your avatar's location.

adam, stick a drop zone on that utility hud thing you were working on so that it rezzes anything you drop on it in front of your avatar.

When I build in the air, which I do a lot, I usually start by rezzing a cube, streaching it to about 2 M long, and then riding that up to the location I want to work at. I can then rez items on the end of the prim I am sitting on.

The first thing I usually rez, once I am there, is a platform made of 4 or 9 linked prims, textured with a measured grid. I stand on that and build on that surface, then delete the platform when all is done.

A friend made an 'invisible skybox' once. A 10 M cube, with all sides set to 100% alpha. All he had to do to rez items inside it was to be in edit mode first. He usually made the floor only 90% transparent from the top surface, just to make it easier to see what he was doing.

You can also rez inside a completely transparent floor by using Ctrl+Alt+T to turn them visable (to you only). With this option on, that reddish glow allows you to select invis-prims and intereact with them as if they were visable. ie also used to select them directly for editing/moving/etc.

Dude, you are a true and good friend, and I love you like the brother that my mom claims she never had, but you are in fact acting like a flaming douche on white toast with a side order of dickknob salsa..maybe you should reconsider this course of action and we go find something else to do.
