Is there a prim limit for scripted weapons? I know there is for vehicles, I was wondering if the same applied to weapons...

Not sure but there should be a zero limit on some peole who find it funny to attack others when they are trying to enjoy sl. there are numerous shoot em up and fighting games about so why they have to pick sl is beyond me.
Sorry to hijack your thread but i felt it had to be said |

The only limit is that the prims all have to be linked into one object, which I think means 256 prims or less (like any other object) but somehow I doubt any single weapon would be above that. I'm sure that somebody will prove me wrong there.

thanks guys...
I was just wondering, because I was going to make a highly-detailed sword. Doubt it'll be over 256 prims, though o_O _____________________

He asks one simple question about prim limits and you start complaining about griefers? pftt! Make your own thread, or just join in on the countless others on the same topic. There are plenty of uses for guns- griefing just happens to be one. |

guys, stop. It's easy to ignore a post. I can understand his reason for posting that, though.
You're both OT. I'm going to see if I can get this thread lock. question was answered, no further comments are needed. _____________________

Stay out of other peoples business, and If you have something rude to say, say it to them
in a 'Private Instant Message' not in public where others may take it the wrong way. That's whats wrong now adays, when people get into other peoples business bad things happen. Learn to mind you're own business. ONE! --------- Juelz Smails |

Forum n00bs have no place reprimanding those who have been in the trenches for as long as Ordinal has. Griefing and the misuse of weapons in SL is a very real problem and a hot button item for a lot of people here, myself included. You are definitely getting off on the wrong foot here. I suggest you learn to respect your elders and learn how things work around here, or go play WoW. P2 _____________________

The most I ever managed to link together was around 570 prims. Far more than you'll ordinarily need to link together really.

Erm, I'm pretty sure that you can't go over 256 for a single linkset... I've seen a few other things that say the same.
e.g. http://secondlife.com/badgeo/wakka.php?wakka=link Now, it's possible to have more than one object behaving like a complete object, with one or more of them using follow scripts, though I don't think that would work for attachments. |

I'm sure someone's found a sort of work-around to make it seem like more than 256 are linked... (they should share those secrets!) Since we're getting specific, I'm trying to build Cloud's sword from the Advent Children movie. Ideally, it will split into various sword combos (it's really a 6-piece sword that more-or-less snaps together to into a larger sword). The scripting for that is probably beyond me at this point, but I'd like to at least get the sword/s done. I don't think it will be over 256... but we'll see. (I was really just curious how anyone could "link" more than 256 prims) _____________________

As far as Cloud's sword is concerned, You could probably get away with clipping a lot of the prims of the seperate swords out of the main sword (all of them combined) as a good portion of some of them are covered by other parts of the sword. So staying under 256 probably isnt that big a deal unless you go really crazy

"cutting them apart" would only really mean making handles and a few more bolts, since those are hidden by that lock mechanism. I have his sword from the model figure now! It's very detailed... with that and the image my friend game be, I can get to work! =D _____________________
