Are you SURE it's phantom??
It is possible to have it be invisible on one side and textured on the other... But as far as I understand, a prim is either phantom or it is solid. As for the texturing, you would select the side that you want to be textured as Invis, and apply a texture that is 100% alpha. This process does not create an invisiprim; that is a different animal. Things inside the prim can still be seen... but the prim itself will be invisible from the side the texture is applied to... This method is pretty good for making "One way Mirrors" and observation galleries onto arenas where a great big window would destroy the setting (A dungeon say). Texture the dungeon side of the wall with Dark, gloomy, slimy and dangerous looking textures... texture the gallery side with 100% alpha... Now people in the gallery can watch without disturbing the atmosphere of the dungeon. _____________________

I had that happen once. I think it was a llVolumeDetect() script (which uses a phantom prim), with a small push effect. When walking through the prim in one direction, nothing seemed to happen, yet from the opposite direction, it became a brick wall.

lol ok buddy if im getting this straight he has walls that..are invis on 1 side and that show up on the other..this is simple as hell to do.......basicly....... make a shape.. edit it...and find a transparent texture... (dont make it transparent" find a transparent texture) if u dont have on ... well look me up "Shroom Control" BUT if u do .. all u must do is.. again make a shap...edit.....and then under (Edit Linked Parts) youll see Select Texture this lets u change the texture on every face of the shape... make 1 side the transparent and the other side not..ther u have it... and yes i know im kinda bad at explaining things in word..but i could always show u bro peace =)

A vertical wall right on the edge of a sim can be walked through from the next sim, but not from within the same sim as the wall.

Couldn't you have.. A solid wall, textured one side, transparent the other, easy we've got that figured..
But couldn't you write a script to detect when an avatar is aproaching the side of the wall you want to be phantom (Collision Detect?) and turn the wall phantom until they've walked through it, when it would be returned to a solid object? I know you can set things physics via script, phantom? Think its doable anyway.. _____________________

Aargh...
New griefing tool just waiting to be implemented... if it hasn't been already... Can you say "Phase trap", boys and girls? You said your neighbor isn't nice to people, a lot. I for one am going to be really careful about investigating visual anomalies at this point... _____________________

ok.. here's a theory on how this could be done.. I can't test it form here but I think it would go something like this..
Each section of the wall will need two linked cubes, one slightly outset from the other. Make the outside (the side you want to pass through) of the linkset your child prim and the inside the root. In the child prim, place this code: CODE
Then place this in the parent(ROOT) prim CODE
Keep in mind this is purely theoretical, I have not tested this at all.. Hopefully it will answer your question as to how it could be done though. Fox ![]() [edit] Additionally, I'd thought of using passcollisions in place of the link messages, but that would require the use of collision detection in the root prim, where we don't want it. Also though about using volume detect, but according to the wiki entry, this would make the enitre linkset phantom even if applied form the child prim (unless I'm reading it wrong) and may not throw collision events if not called from a script within the root prim.. I'll have to experiment with this tonight, you've gotten my curiosity going.. ![]() _____________________

I made a wall like this once. It is two linked prims. When you collide with one of the sides it turns them both phantom for a second or two giving you enough time to walk through. If you collide with the other side it does nothing.
