Try this one.
Make sure you _really_ tried it before building tons of stuff offline. Note : it worked fine with Blender 2.42a the latest Blender (2.43) will crash and burn when you start the plugin. Look at the last post in the above Thread for a 'Patch'. ...or use Blender 2.42 ![]() |

Does anyone know if Milkshape can export to SL? Milkshape is a cool program...easier to use than Blender...but not as cool. That's IF you can call Blender cool. I think it's a headache.
I use Maya and Max--they are hard to get a hold of *cough*...afford I mean, but they are far superior to Blender. At the moment though, I think Blender has the easier export, with the fewest glitches...of course, I could be wrong. _____________________

It can handle obj and a plugin for scuplties was submitted to their group but beyond that, no I don't think so.

Onie,
if you know how to use AutoCAD, you can use our tool, Henshin, to build offline. Links on my signature ![]() _____________________

Does anyone know if LL will ever provide thier build tool system for offline use?
09-08-2007 00:03
I have no idea why.. and I have reinstalled several times and have an up to date system.. but... Secondlife is just completely unstable on my machine.. it crashes so often that trying to build anything is a complete headache and all I do is build.
I don't have or use any of the programs I have seen mentioned that need plug ins to work for offline building, I just want SL building as it is in game but on my PC while offline. Aside of having to put up with hideous lag and crashing I also have to deal with idiots that spam sandboxes with squeeeeling cubes that stick to me or great blobs of black smoke that prevents me from seeing what I am doing at all. An offline version of the build system exactly how it is online is desperately needed. Building online is sometimes beyond annoying and it's putting me off SL all together. I have loads of great ideas to develop my current range of products and really want to get cracking with them, but everytime i do I end up too frustrated to continue. When I am online I am only ever in a sandbox or my shops, I could do 99% of what I do offline much more easily! Anyone know of plans to make an offline option? Or can someone make one that is the same as SL without needing to use graphics programs like blender etc that most players dont have. OR... can we start a petition thread so that LL realise how desperate evey single builder on the system is for this feature!! It's the only thing that sends me frustratingly back to GuildWars!!! Surely an offline building option can't be that difficult to set up and having builders work offline wil free up the servers for those that want to actaully play and enjoy the world without so much lag or abuse from others. Sorry this rant is not exactly in the right place on this forum, but I was reading teh replies to this thread and really hoping I'd stumble into a simple solution and a link on the official SL website to downlaod something they really should have provided for us ages ago. Offline building is desperately desperately needed and not having it is seriously losing players. |

Late or not.. add another for an offline prim builder, with ability to upload linked sets. I think that, not only will it be useful for us to be able to build offline, but it will also help with server traffic because a lot of builders won't NEED to be online so much.

There's also the free Sketchup which, while allowing you to do easy 3D modelling, doesn't (to my knowledge) have a bridge to SL.
It will probably also make you frustrated with how crude SL building methods are. http://www.sketchup.com/ |
