Do floors need to be physical?

I created a bunch of 10m cubes right next to each other. When I walk on top of them, sometimes I fall into one of them and I have to sort of swim my way out. Is that because I didn't make them physical? It never happened before.

First, check to make sure none of them are phantom. Also, are you building between sims? If part of your build is in one sim, and the other in a neighboring sim, that will happen.

If that's the case, you can try overlapping the floors on the sim boundary. Hope this helps!

Its a bug, I think the only way to fix it is to replace the cube its effecting.. But don't make them physical, that'll lag the place out and won't help :)

The only other thing I can think of is being across/very close to a sim border?

Could it be because the cube sits on more than one parcel?

That shouldn't do it, as long as they're in the same sim.. As long as they're not phantom its most likely to be the bug thats going around.. Replace the ones that you fall through and it *should* stop..
