This might be a stupid question, but Can I link two objects like a skirt and belt so when I attach it to my avatar it only goes onto the pelvis instead of the pelvis and stomach?

Yes, as long as the objects are modifiable.

Yep. Just remember that once you link them, they are a single piece, and it may be a pain to separate them again. Also, make sure the attachment points that use are compatible. For example, stomach and pelvis are almost perfectly interchangeable. It's pretty common among furries to have to combine a skirt and some other attachment that are meant for those two points, so you can leave one of them free for a tail. On the other hand, pelvis and spine don't move in locked relationship to each other as you move, so parts made for those two points are not great candidates for merging.
The best exchangeable or mergable attachment points that I am aware of are: * Pelvis + Stomach * Chest + Spine * Left ear, Right ear, Nose, Chin, Mouth and Skull, in any combination
Those three groupings are stable with each other. So a belt meant for stomach plus a skirt meant for pelvis will do really well if merged.
To a limited degree, the following pairings may work. But not perfectly, as these points do not move together at all times. For example, left and right pec move in relation to each other as you breathe. : * left or right hip with each other * left or right pec with each other * left or right hip with pelvis or stomach * left or right pec with chest or spine
Points you can not combine with anything else, because they move too much: Left and right for the following: hand, lower arm, upper arm, foot, lower leg, upper leg, eye
Other considerations: Scripted items, like skirts with resize scripts or tails that wag might not be able to be merged, even if they are copyable and modifiable. As an example, many tails that wag do so by changing the rotation of the root prim at the base of the tail, moving all the other prims in the tail. Combine that with anything else, such as an unscripted prim skirt, and either the tail ceases to wag, or the whole assembly; tail, skirt and all; will wag.

Just make copies before you play around with it, then have fun.
