Ok, got a screwy one here, does the link order somehow effect location of a prim on an avatar?
I link 3 balls together making the centre the root prim, wear it on my upper arm, adjust the balls along the attachment axis to the joint positions, then detach and copy it, I wear the copy ob the other arm, rotate it 180 degrees and the root rim seems to be in a different place on the AV's arm?
This just gets even better I repeat the above test, but with a single fresh round sphere it wears just as bad, all three axis seem to be slightly out on my left upper arm, armbands I created the same way yesterday wear still wear fine.
Is it a trick using local or attachment mode, I haven't used reference mode unless accidentaly, still after a relog and clear cache it is still happenning with any new item I make.
Hmm I just discovered when rotating attachments it goes off the halfway between centres instead of the root prim, that still doesn't explain why a single ball wears in different places, I changed shaps and skins, same problem

Hmm it seems to be that the attachment point on the left upper arm isn't symetrical to the right, on closer inspection my stuff I made previously is adjusted to suit as well.
