Not sure if this is the right place to post, so please advise - kindly and tactfully, if it is not. I also searched the forums and did not find anything similar.
Since the fairly recent update it seems I cannot create a new prim on a megaprim platform. I've used the same platform in the past and built a castle on it. Is anyone else having this issue? I'm not sure if it is just me, the update, or what.
Thanks!

Hi Tini, I think sl is going through the usual post update shudders right now. Nothing has acted very consistant for days. My logon request for a satisfaction survey didnt even have a send button I rezzed a prim on a mega earlier, so it might be you. But to be truthful rezzing on megas has allways been a bit of a crapshoot. Most builders I know put down a normal prim as a rez platform, that seems to solve most of the issues. As always when in doubt, dump cache and relog, you never know...good luck with it

Ok i know exactly what your problem is.. Rember that SL looks at a mega prim as 10x10 not 50x50 orwhatever you are using. therfore to rez you have to rez within 5m of the center of the prim. if you do this youll be able to rez np. (one of the down sides of using mega prims as a build platform) I normaly will use regluar prims as the floor and mega prims as the walls.. just an fyi

Well, sort of but that's not quite right. Some of the larger , more irregular sized megas have bounding box problems, usually the large flat ones. You can see the bounding area if you edit on it and press control and shift as if you want to resize it, it'll show you the area the box is taking. It also causes problems with your camera if you try and focus on it. What's happening is SL thinks you're trying to rez inside the prim. The only real way around it is either use a different sized mega or use a box one that is the same size, but a cube, turn it into a sphere and dimple it as far as you can, then change it back to a cube. Use edit as mentioned above to see where the bounding box is and make sure the end that has the extended bounding area is at the bottom.
If you don't fancy that, just create a regular prim on the surface of the mega (they rez fine from the right click option wheel) and rez whatever you wanted on top of that.

My Sandbox is built using a 50x50 mega prim variants as the base, have not experienced any problems as yet, are you using the newer set of mega prims?
Often if the area is under extreme load, I have experienced temporary problems with rezzing but not confined to just mega prims.

It's not all of them, only some.
It also doesn't matter if it's the newer set of megas. Of the 100 or so that I made the last time the exploit was available, maybe 15 have this problem.

Thank you for your replies. This is a megaprim that, before the most recent update, I had no problems building on. I do clear cache regularly, even had LL do a region restart (I'm on mainland). I checked that I could rez a new prim on something else - nearby stairs for my home, and that worked with no problem. As a matter of fact, the rezzer box for the house had no problems rezzing on the same prim. It's only rezzing a new prim to build that is causing the issue.
It's also not a bounding box issue as the center is exactly where it should be on this particular prim, not off to the side or below or above..
I will download & install the previous client and see what happens. I'll post my results. This is very puzzling for sure.
