Me and my partner are in the middle of a build, we've got to the texturing part and are having huge problems.
Before i go on...
1) We both have rights to edit each others objects 2) We are both in the group that allows full rights on the land
The problem is to make the build easier we have both copied each others floors and walls and simply moved them about. Now we have come to the texture stage we find we are unable to texture somthing thats owned by the other person.
ie..
Owned by Thunder, created by FLuff - Thunder cant edit texture. Owned by Fluff, created by Thunder - Fluff cant edit texture.
Its become a complete nightmare, why on earth cant one of us just texture the whole thing as we want it?

Make sure you don't have "Select Only My Objects" checked in the Tools menu. That will prevent you from being able to re-texture someone else's prims, even though you have mod rights on their items. You *should* be able to re-texture each other's stuff if they are full-perms and if you have mod rights on the other person's stuff. I just worked on re-texturing someone else's prims this weekend, and it was working fine then. One other thing that may have screwed you up. If you *copied* a prim made by your friend, *before they changed the mod rights to full-perms*, then you will have created a prim or prims that have restricted copy and mod permissions. The default is no-copy/no-mod/yes-transfer for the next owner. And since it is now YOUR prim, having mod rights on HIS stuff doesn't help. It 's now a no-mod prim, and can't be made less restrictive. You'll have to replace any such prims.

That problem confused me and still confused me for long time when I was doing group builds with my friends inspite of us sharing full permissions. Especially around the building and joining or even copying items. You can copy the first thing often but not the second if they don't have full permissions and the item you copy and move changes locations. Totally confusing I know. Deed item to group also becomes a real mess when there isn't proper permissions all you can do is delete item. Anyway thanks for bringing this up.

Yeah, anything that changes ownership, including copying and deeding, will force the object to take on the next owner permissions, and you can't "fix" that to give it less restrictive ones. I once copied a hillside deck that a sim owner had built, intending to use a copy elsewhere. That left MY copy (with screwed up perms) in the original location. I later deleted the deck that I had moved, as it didn't work as well as I had thought in that other location. Only after that did I realize that now the one in the original place was owned by me, but had screwed up permissions. I had to drag it to one side and manually re-create it, prim by prim, so I could replace it with a full-perms copy and transfer that back to the sim owner.

From: Thunder Starbrook 1) We both have rights to edit each others objects 2) We are both in the group that allows full rights on the land
I don't understand #1. Is this just saying their group role settings allow them to both edit objects,,,, and that the items have full perms? -This topic confuses me toooooooo! Jacer
