Selling textures to put in an object?

Okay, here's the situation:

I sell this Thing. Inside the thing are a bunch of texture files for the Thing to use in its script. I want to sell expansion packs which add more texture files.

My initial thinking? Make the Thing mod/copy/notrans, make the expansion textures nomod/nocopy/trans. Logic being, the thing is modifyable so you can edit it and change its contents, the textures are transferrable so you can move them into the Thing's inventory.

Doesn't work. In fact, NO combination of flags seems to work for me for either Thing or Texture... except setting Texture mod/copy/trans which is a surefire way for it to end up in freebie boxes.

What can I do? Or is this just not possible?

you are right, textures have to be full permission to be used.

Well; you could have an "update box", I suppose, which, when clicked, asked your Thing to confirm that it was a real Thing, and, if so, sent textures that were inside it directly into the Thing's inventory, so they never had to go into the owner's inventory. I've not tried it but it sounds plausible to me, at least initially. That would be more of a Scripting Tips question.

Agreed. Having Thing contact an update server to send out the new packs is the only way I can think of achieving that without changing permissions settings.
