Linked object falls apart :(

A Sky Ship I built recently powered by Jesrad Seraph's non-physical script has a tendency to unlink itself. I've noticed that it tends to happen when crossing sim boundaries but has also happened when puttering around inside a sim. A bit of background:

The initial build proved to be unlinkable even though all the prims were well within the boundaries of a 30X30X30 cube. So after several rebuilds making it smaller each time I finally arrived at a design that could be linked as a single object. I can rez it straight from my inventory and it comes out all linked. No probs there and I can fly away off into the sky. Whee! Then the fun begins, so to speak.

On its maiden flight around the Valley group of sims it disintegrated when I flew over a parcel that was full. The next few times it fell apart crossing sim boundaries. Occasionally I can manage a journey of up to 1 km and even managed to make it from Luskwood to the Pirate's Hideaway in Varney with passengers in one piece!

Has anyone experienced something similar or know anything that can shed light on this phenomenon? I built the sky ship for personal use for flying around SL with friends and a few passengers, preferrably without falling out of the sky at random times. It would be nice if it was a bit more reliable structurally.

Unlinking objects

I've had something similar occur while I was constructing a building. I assembled it all in modules, the walls, floor, roof etc., and linked it all together successfully. I then checked the object by raising the entire thing up by a few metres, just to make sure I hadn't missed anything, and then placed it back where it had come from. I created another prim to add to the structure and that's when I noticed the building was not linked in any way - everything had come 'unglued'! I re-linked the whole lot again and carried on creating more new objects. It happened twice more during the building session without any apparent cause.

Any ideas?

I have found that 'spontaneous unlinking' usually has one of two causes:

1: Prims are just barely within linking limits. Remember that small prims that are farther than 1 meter apart can have severely reduced linking limits. For example, two 0.5 M spheres 5M apart can not be linked, while a row of three 0.5M spheres, evenly spaced so the farthest pair is 5M apart, will link just fine. Look for the farthest apart center to center distances between small prims. Sometimes adding one more prim between them will fix it.

2: A prim has become 'corrupted'. Sometimes the data relating to a prim gets a little off. Often it's the root prim that is to blame, and making a drag-copy of the original prim and replacing it in the linkset will fix the matter.
