I have everything set up to use Primstar but when I go to sculpt with the sculpt mode, it only lets me sculpt in one area on the sphere (middle lower area) and no where else. Does anyone know why and can help me?

i just checked it on the newest primstar and it works for me (in multires mode). If you say, that you can only sculpt in the middle area... maybe your sculpt strength is setup too low ? In Sculpt mode lookup the "Sculpt" tab (near multires) and check the strength of your brush. Maybe also the brush size is too small...
One additional; idea is: Maybe you are working with shapes in subsurf mode. If you do this, the sculpt brush only uses the control points for sculpting. And since the number of control points is so low, it may be possible that you fall into the brush size trap.
I also noticed that in subsurf mode the poles of a sphere seem to be unmovable by the sculpt brush. Maybe that is a blender bug ? Or is it an intended behaviour of the sculpt brush ?
Just as a tip: If you work in proportional edit mode, that works very well with the limited resolution of sculpties. Sculptmode works better for high resolution objects. But that's just my personal opinion.

The "git" suffix that shows they are development snapshots for testing. I haven't done a production ready 0.9.x release because there are known issues. And as you know, Add Mesh Sculpt Mesh in 0.9.x is not the real one. That's currently under Add Mesh GUI Test. Both Torus types work fine in the Test GUI. The different implementation of the tkinter toolkit in Windows is holding up making the Test GUI the main one.
