Hi all,
Here is my problem...I have a building I am re-texturing. The current wallpaper has windows built right in which is nice but - I want to use a different wallpaper which does not have windows.
I have windows also I want to use. So...how do I use both?
Oh...the textures on the outside of the building have windows so in the original build the inside and outside windows (textures)were lined up.
Is there a way I can utilize my own windows and wallpaper on the inside without rebuilding the walls?
Thanks!

The windows on the walls at the moment are not seperate, they are part of the wall, it just has a hole in the texture, so to speak. You could texture the wall as you wanted, but would only be able to see out where your new wallpaper also had a window type hole. They don't have to line up with the outside, it is just nicer if they do, and easier to place furniture against walls.
If you want to install prim windows you would need to cut holesin the walls - this is a bit more complicated - practice first on some prims of your own.
If you want any help, IM me in game - I will try and help you further if I can.

OK, thanks for the response. So my next question is...how to cut a hole in a prim? Is that something that is easily done?
Thanks = )

Export the wall texture and the wallpaper texture to your local hard drive. You do this by opening the texture in your texture inventory, and selecting save as from the file menu. Use Photoshop or something similar to open that .tga file and edit it to change your wallpaper. Save the new wall, with window and wallpaper, as 32-bit TGA (Targa) format. Upload that picture back into SL, and apply it to the wall. It will cost you L$10 to bring the altered wall texture back into SL.

Hi Ceera,
I appreciate your response, and I can definitely do those things BUT...I do not have the photoshop program currently. The only editing program I have is that sorry little 'paint' program.
Can i use that, or do i need to invest in photoshop? Also, is there another program I can use?
Thanks a bunch for your help = )

You'll need a program that can open the .tga files, can edit with layers intact, and can save .tga files with a alpha channel. If you don't have a commercial app like Photoshop, you could get a free copy of GIMP, and do it with that. Search for GIMP in Google to locate a free, downloadable copy. I don't use GIMP myself, but I've read good reviews of its capability in this regard.
Alternatively, you could hire a texture artist, such as myself, to do the job for you. Depending on the complexity of making your changes, it probably wouldn't cost more than L$100 to L$300 to get a good artist who already has the tools and experience to do it for you.
