Where to buy Maya?

Yes, I've decided that Maya it is..so now where do I buy it? Autodesk.com has 8.5 for sale for almost $8000. ouch!

But I've heard there is a $2000 version as well. And yes, I have the free download.

So all you Maya users, where is a good place to buy Maya or how did you get your copy?

Search the Autodesk Store for 'Maya Complete' - thats the 1999 $ Version.

You can click the How t Buy link on Autodesk's website, or you can Google for it, and take your pick from any of the 1,120,000 sites that offer to sell you either the software itself or books on how to use it.

For those of you who qualify, the academic versions are MUCH cheaper; Maya Unlimited is about $400 from Academic Superstore. They would probably get fussy about using it for commercial projects, though.
