re-Imbedding an MLP in an object

Ok, I'm at a loss at something that is prob very simple...

I bought an object with an embedded MLP script/object inside it. Works fine but I didn't like the textures. I unlinked everything, changed the textures, and re-linked all the parts including the MLP. Looked great but the menu was no longer accessible. I tried everything I could think of - but obviously missing something.

Can anyone help me out?

Thanks,
BigCity

Hi just a thought, is the prim containing your mlp script the parent in your linkset?

That brings up the next question....

I first did the MLP prim LAST because I needed to bury it in the object - then found out it has to the FIRST prim for add. I then buried the MPL prim in the overall object as the first prim, then selected the rest of the parts - and linked them... no luck :(

Whats weird is it all worked before I unlinked everything and all I did was change textures.

An interesting detail I just found out that may help someone help me :)

It seems the MLP prim still works.... if I pull the box out of the object where you can click on it - all is well. What seems to be lost is the ability to bury it and gain access by clicking on the outside object.

PS: And the Content tab shows empty even though a reset loads the script - just no access to menu. Is there something more than just making the MLP prim the first one in the link rotation?

"Move left, please" .... "Mary Louise Parker" .... "My Lousy Prim" .... "Many Lost Pieces" ...... "My Lord! Pistachio!" ..... take your pick. :D I would have asked, but you got there first.

MLP - xCite - SexGen, all menu driven animation scripts.

Been playing with this all day and still can't put an MLP "inside" another prim and gain access to it. Has to be someone out there that knows how?

Well, I still don't know what an MLP is, but let me take a shot in the dark. I had a problem not long ago with a script in a root prim that would not respond to a click on a child prim. Simply adding a llPassTouch(TRUE) statement to the script cleared up the problem.

I understand that a touch OUGHT to be passed from a child to the root prim as the normal default. My theory --- I'm not much of a scripter, so this is half-baked --- is that I had somehow mucked up prim parameters by moving my script around, unlinking, and relinking, and that it took the llPassTouch(TRUE) statement to magically clear the mess. It occurs to me now that if this odd theory is correct, I might have had just as much luck if I had simply dropped a scrubber script in the object and then reloaded my original script.

I will be very surprised if this is much help to you, but stranger things have happened.

BTW, I really would like to know what the letters "MLP" stand for. (Marching Libidious Penguins?)

There is a bigger issue going on today. Apparently any mlp that had scripts by eva cappelli (maybe last name not spelled correctly) have been deleted by Linden Lab. Check your stuff to see if you still have scripts.

Oh, Xcite, that's why, those are copy protected. If you want to redo it, you'll need to fish out the notecard and animations and roll your own copies of the scripts. If you like the chatter and don't care for the restrictions, Sensations would be one alternative way to get it.

Perhaps you can try this ... take the mlp prim and set it outside of the prim you want to bury it in. Go through and link all the prims making the mlp prim the last or root prim. You can then go to edit linked objects and move the mlp prim inside where you wanted to bury it. You may also want to have the whole object selected once you link and go to the tools menu and reset scripts.

Hope this helps

As curious as i am, i googled that one and found "Multi Love Poses". Guess what? I learned, that is even well documented in the SL-wiki ;-) http://wiki.secondlife.com/wiki/Using_MLP_or_MLPV2

BTW, in germany MLP is the name of a financial services supplier who is hounted by ongoing rumours about scandals and intrigues, but i guess that "multi love poses" fits perfectly to SL ;-) or was it "Many Lots of Problems" at the end ???

I would unlink all the prims and find which one has the mlp script and animations in it. Then I'd relink them with the scripted prim being the last selected. It should be the yellow outlined prim when you click on the linked set.

MLP is a free script that allows you to rez 1 or 2 poseballs when you click on the prim that contains it (or if you click on the linked set with the mlp prim as the yellow root prim). You see it in a lot of sex beds but there are other uses for it.

I tested this freebie mlp bed I had today and it still works.
