Is it really necessary to start a pointless thread, just for the sake of starting one and hoping to be popular or it was a good idea somewhere else.
This is a BAD idea.

To keep the thread on track please don't post questions or comments. Just post what you are working on. If you have a comment or question start a new topic.

This thread is already off-topic. Sorry, but we don't need another section of these forums diluted with general discussion.

Yesterday I was playing around with different clothes of course and went to HI for a bit when I gave up on clubs. I think it was my first night of no Live Music Events.

oh CX do you have one of those land levelers? Dont know if that will help any I had a big problem with my land being smoother at the beach area.

I guess it is up to moderators to lock it then.

I am interested in seeing what other people are working on and I hoped it would drive interest in building.

My apologies to those that are offended.

Yeah, I like the thread too. It's Friday and I rather enjoy reading what people are doing other than myself not to mention I'm bored at work.

So with that, I logged in my alt and went to work on creating my very first neko tail. Not for any good reason other than my alt tends to bend towards neko, and I wanted to see if I could do it. Then I got down to the textures, and my alt having no decent hair or fur textures, I set it to full permissions and made sure that my main could modify my alt's builds. I logged on the main, textured the tail and created the fluffy little tip for the tail kept permissions open, made sure my alt could modify...but when trying to link them up and save, I found that I couldn't...logged the alt back in and attempted to link them up and I couldn't. Ran into stupid permissions drama in spite of my careful attempts to avoid them.

Meh...deleted the tail, and decided my next attempt would be done with only my main.
Then I went shopping.

Yesterday, I finished up a large build - a 24mx40m home with 375 prims in 3 link sets. It is a complete ground to roof overhaul of a build I did a year ago that I always wanted to make better.

As I was going over some textures, I noticed I had the wrong color on one prim - a stain glass window, so I set it to what it should be, but did not notice at the time that I set the whole link set to the same color because I was not in Edit Linked Parts mode! Most of the rest of the prims in the link set were already set to that color so it was not so obvious.

Later I noticed the mistake, but it was not much of a problem because I backup the build in Rez-Faux and this and all my builds have a Texture & Color controller that changes those features on every prim depending on what part of the home is selected - such as the roof, carpet, furniture and trim, etc.

In this case, the only place where the colors should not have been changed was the underside, which I always make a dark gray texture with white as the color and that area is not under the Texture & Color controller. So, I simply changed the whole link set to white and then used the Texture & Color controller to set the desired colors back to normal. This was the better method because I don't remember exactly what I did since the last time I backup that section to Rez-Faux.

I also made a hanging 'gas' lamp that uses particle system and is controlled by my Light controller.

I will be glad when this build is complete - all that remains is the documentation. It has taken too long!

Tips - always save your work often and watch that Edit Link Parts button box, especially when zoomed in on a prim and the blue outlines of the rest of the link set don't show!

It's not that the thread is bad; it's just misplaced. The best place for it would be the Gallery. This is absolutely the wrong place for it.

Thank you Dytska for those tips! A very appropriate add to the "Building Tips" part of this forum.

I guess I should have added mine. So here it is.

When building, try to do the whole job with one avatar and don't involve your alt. It tends to cause problems in spite of any precautions not thoroughly thought through. <--wooo say that 5 times fast!

:o) Morgaine, you have in IM in world. Maybe we can compare some tail notes sometime.

I just read that in my email. We should have a little build fest.

I had made a cylinder tapered and put in a twitching script with a base torus thingy. Its not bad for a rough draft :(
But I will most def try that alpha hair texture for the tip. ty ty

I played with prims on my new plot of land and tried making a pier-type of thingy.. I got frustrated and went and drooled over some of Blip's prefab homes instead. Much worth 2 bucks to save the gray hair and time I would spend on it.

Then I hung out in a trashy sandbox sorting thru my inventory and trashing nearly 1000 items I will never need

I had a problem with placement, usually I copy/paste the XY values to line items next to each other.. but for some reason two halves of a tower I built seemed to have their own XY's that weren't matching up at all.. it was really strange.
