I do some builds for people... link em together.. Some of these builds are muliple buildings and objects on large pieces of land so there are linked pieces everywhere. What i currently do is tag all these with red prim squares to identify to the person that they need to buy that group of linked items. Then we they are ready i mark all the objects for sale at 0L for them to buy. sometimes a slow process.

So what the question is... Is anyone aware of a way i can just sell or transfer all the linked objects to them without physically giving them to their INV or selling each item?

Was going to put it up as a proposal for a feature to be added to SL but wasnt sure if there maybe another way

Thanks

Package your builds

Unfort unately no, you can always have the client sell you the land for an L then you can sell it back to him and have the sell objects with land option checked.

Personally I believe in:
package your builds into 1 or several rezz systems. Not only wil you then have a copy of your build to display to other people who may want you to do some custom work for them but your clients will NOT loose their items which is a PLUS for any avi looking to pay a large sum of money for a build. SL is too unstable NOT to get your build packaged up.
Jack Hathor has a remarkable system that does not require notecard configurations and I have succcesfully packaged a 10,000 prim build with it

Yes, Sara is right, never do a custom build without taking a copy packaged with an auto rezzer to give to your customer, although i suggest you set the prefs mod/copy/no transfer otherwise they could start selling multiple copies of your work if its left as copy/transfer.

Plus you then have a physical copy in your inventory and thats allot more effective for securing further work than just having an image or two.

I was also going to suggest a rez box. I paid 600 for Rez Faux.

But...

Just yesterday I was screwing around and selected about 20 different objects, nowhere near each other. None of them were linked. I right clicked on the final one in my selection and selected "Take". All the objects were then taken into my inventory under ONE object, which had the name of the las object I selected in that group. I would then drop this one object, and I would see the same 20 or so objects, the same distance apart, still unlinked.

Maybe I've just overlooked it before, but I thought it was surprising.

I believe this is relatively new - part of the coalesced 'auto return' they recently implemented with no fanfare. It is indeed VERY handy to quickly pick up a build in its entirety, before you're ready to actually package into a rez system. I have kept copies of my last couple of builds this way, then packaged the same builds.. so I have the "for sale" package, as well as the original unpackaged build I can lay out for easy modification.

In my opinion, this does not at all negate the value of a good rez system like Rez Faux. It's ideal for many personal uses, but it isn't practical to transport builds in the course of a sale.

Does that multiple Take behavior work with Take Copy? I'd love to snag a copy of my store to keep in my inventory without having my store disappear.

Not sure if it works with taking copies, would really be worth testing though. I had somebody select individual objects of mine on their own land, right click and return them. They returned as one object, upon dropping them the objects were just as they were before being returned. Same distance apart, same objects linked together and individual prims were still individual prims.

Yes, it works with Take or with Take Copy. The important thing is to make sure that the last prim you select has a meaningful name to identify your build once it's inventorized.. You can do the selection thing to get all the objects selected, then hold down the shift key, deselect the named object and reselect it. The entire build will then be inventorized with the name of that last prim, upon take or take copy.
