Hi all - just found this forum and gonna settle down and read it now. I've just got one quick question that I'll risk asking (Sorry if it's been addressed already in here!). Is it possible to make one componant of a build phantom? That's it! Many more questions to follow tho' I'm sure This isn't related to the above question, but I was working inside my 290 metre high skybox and making an unlinked screen phantom - when I suddenly found myself plumeting thro the clouds... I realised I had made the whole thing phantom! Took me ages to get back up there (seems to be a 150m flying limit there!?) - it's got a nice little teleport but as soon as I appeared back up there I was falling thro the floor again! Sigh... Cat x

Nope, 'fraid not, when you link 'em together you get - well, you know first hand You can link phantoms to other phantoms though - my house is one linkset for the walls, floors etc, and all the curtains and phantom bits are linked together and *locked down*. Emphasis on the locking part because you'll swear at yourself the first time your camming around and kinda miss and manage to drag your building off into the distance - not what you were asking but everyone needs to know about locking objects! You'd be right to guess that I do this a lot There's a little checkbox right near the phantom checkbox, and it's good to remember when you're done building, because you can move your objects round without having to be in edit mode and it's an utter pain in the bum.

Easiest way around this is to make the Phantom parts a seperate linkset or individual prims. Treat them like furniture, or like doors. But no, a phantom prim and a non-phantom prim can not be in the same linkset.

If you need to package your build (or move it) you can still multi-select the objectsand pick them up, or use one of the various Rez-Blah systems to keep unlinked stuff together.
