Hello,
I planned to build a cellar that should, at least partially, be covered by terrain, that is I want a garden above that cellar. For that reason I don't want to lower the terrain there. When I build a box and move it below the terrain niveau, the box is filled with "soil" instead of being hollow.
There was a thread here dealing with underwater building and they seem to have essential the same problem only that you can move and see under water.
Although I understand the reasons for this behaviour it would be interesting if there is a way around that. Or is the approach completely wrong and there is another way to achieve that?
Thanks for your help and best regards
Cynthia

To achieve that, i'm afraid you will have to terraform. Its no big deal.

Hmm. Ok, but how do I put my garden upon the cellar then?
Idea: Can I give the upper plate of the cellar a soil like texture and put plants on it? Never tried.
best regards Cyn

best regards Cyn Yup Just pick a texture that you'd like to use.

Yes, it really is that easy. Terraform your land by lowering it as deep as you like. Build inside the hole. Place a prim across the hole and either build on top of the new "floor" or texture it with a terrain texture.
Extra hints:
1. You can lower your entire property by clicking that "apply to all" button, instead of using the bulldozer button.
2. If you want to make fake ground, don't forget to change your prim from "wood" to something else. I like rubber. That way when someone walks or lands on the prim you will not get that hollow wood sound.
3. If you build on a private island and lower the ground below the water line then you will reach water. If you build below the water everything looks nice and spooky with a resulting distance vision reduction.
4. Light is only reduced when under deep water. If you make a basement you really do not have to worry about having a natural light source like a complicated window. The light will naturally come through the walls.
Hit me up in game and I'll send you links to some places that used water for their underground areas. I'd just tell you right now but I cannot remember the specific names. One is an underwater bar, another a long tunnel alongside an island and the third is a secret underground grotto area that is HUGE.

From: Martin McConnell the third is a secret underground grotto area that is HUGE. I believe the location you're thinking of is Cave Cult at Rua. Very nice build btw!

Or you could just clear the collision sound completely with a script..or change it to something completely wierd
