I would like to know how to create a collar in Blender. I know that I should start off with a torus and rip the seam. I am not sure on how to "enable mark seams" so I can rip it. I am using Blender 2.6

In edit mode, in the edit button panel (F9): Look under "Mesh tools more". There enable "Draw seams" to see the seams. Now you can select all vertices on the seam you want to rip apart...
My favorite way to handle seams is a bit different however. It makes the selection of the correct vertices very easy: I have shown it in my "modelling with outlines" tutorial here: http://www.vimeo.com/8565254 Please watch around 02:30 in the video. You would want to reverse the operation though: - go to edit mode. - in the UV image editor: enable "sync UV and mesh selections" - in the UV image editor: select the left and right column of vertices (or the top and bottom row). - in the 3D view: Mesh -> Vertices -> Rip. note that you end up within "grab mode" so the ripped vertices will follow your mouse until you left click! |

I am using Blender 2.6 Hi , I am a new player and trying to learn about the sculpties. Are you refering to a collar like for your neck? What is the deciding factor making you use a sculptie instead of a SL prim for this? What does Ripping the seam mean? |
