Rokuro and the optimal number of editing points

Say there, knowledgeable folks. I have need of a simple sculpted shape for an art installation I'm doing, and a modified tube will suit me just fine. After a small bit of research I settled on Rokuro as the fastest way to this goal.

After messing about with Rokuro a bit, I was getting ready to get serious about making my shape, and noticing that Rokuro gives you an option of the number of 'points' you can drag around to make the shape, I was getting ready to do so with 128 points for the best smoothness.

But then I discovered that Rokuro Pro comes with a handy-dandy preview window - so downloaded that. And I noticed that the Pro version has no option for number of points - there's only 33 points. So....(and here comes my question finally)....IS there any advantage to working with 128 points? Or is that resolution lost in the process of getting it into SL?

Any information is highly appreciated.

SL will only display 33x33 vertices, so if all you care about is its appearance on SL, just go with that.

However, modelling at a higher resolution can be useful if you plan to bake ambient occlusion or other effects into your texture map.

Ah, thanks for the speedy reply, Daniel. And if I knew what 'ambient occlusion' was, I might desire it extremely....but since I don't, I guess not!

I will, however, be applying this sculpted shape to a megaprim, and will be texturing the result with some of my photography, and naturally the best results are desired. Would the number of points I'm working with make any difference in that regard?

Just in terms of what SL sees, no. The extra points beyond 33 will be completely ignored.

Thank you very much...you've saved me quite a bit of time.
