Since my last idea apparently didn't go over to well (19 views, zero replies) I have thought up another idea. There is a lack of wilderness in the game, mostly everything seems to be a giant chaotic sprawl of buildings. I would like to get a large section of land to be completely covered with mountians, hills, lakes, trees and maybe some wildlife (squirrels, deer, bears). There will also be interesting objects inside the preserve like ancient ruins and such. Perhaps also waterfalls and geysers if I can get people to script such things. Features list: Essential things: -Large forested area -small creeks and ponds -marked pathways leading around the area -Souviner shop -hidden objects, wonders Things for future: -scripted wildlife -geysers -waterfalls -natural sounds -camping area Improbable things: -AI park rangers -animal attacks on tourists who go too far off the trails -caves
so who would be willing to help out with such a project?

I'm working on a map of what I envision the preserve to look like. Looking for modellers, texturers, scripters and funding.
SL needs to have a large wilderness area, like Central Park or a copy of Yellowstone.

I think that's an excellent idea. I'm only just getting started with SL, but I'd love to help out in some way. I'm a texture artist / modeler by profession so I could probably help in those areas primarily.
I love the idea of having ancient ruins / wonders hidden in the wilds too.

Well maybe we should combine forces and make the largest, most impressive chuck of wilderness ever seen!

Pajo, what is now known as the "linden National Forest, Federal Mountain Campground" can be found on the sim lines of Federal and Shiply, on the extreame east end of SL. I'm open for ideas, so take a look and let me know what you think. However, I already own most of the useable land so expansion at this time would be slow.

I'd love to help make the critters. (See Barking Spiders Project.) I'm less interested in seeing the usual wildlife and more in designing new creatures for SL. After all, if you wanna see deer, dogs, and frogs, you got 'em in RL. But cat-dragons, venomous web-weaving hamsters, and winged ferrets? Those are things I'd love to see. Incidentally, does anyone if we can use the same built-in health system for critters as is used by avatars? I suspect I'd have to do it from scratch. (This would be helpful for hunting.) With summer classes, the project might end up being too much for me to swallow alone, so some help would be kewl

I applaud the enthusiasm to create and preserve some areas. Tracey has done a wonderful job with the forest, one of my favorite SL areas!
Pajo I like your ideas and look forward to meeting you!
My intent with the portion of Welsh underwater that I have "preserved" is to make some nice underwater type areas which would include deep sea creatures, sea plants and a variety of other eye pleasing things.
So if anyone is interested in preserving this area as well let me know and by all means drop on by! Thanks. =0)
