Hair is a whole lotta prims with textures added and worn as an attachment. The base concept is nothing special. Making good hair will take practice though. It's one of those objects you may be best off making the entire thing scaled up then scale it down.

Get a posing stand, (its free) Then drop it on the ground, press sit. Make prims, and drag it to your head, (dont link it yet) Then, just start covering your head with prims... After you covered your head, start making the hair design with the prims.. later select everything and press LINK. Then press attach to: Skull Then you have it. Trick is.. - Idea for hair, What prims to use, What textures.

Shape to get you started...

If you need curls then try the settings below. 1. Open up your Build window. 2. Create a Torus shape (not the ring one) 3. Then in the Object tab copy these settings: ----------------------------------------- --Size-- X: 5.000 Y: 2.500 Z: 3.256 --Building Block Type-- Torus --Cut Begin and End-- B: 0.00 E: 1.00 --Hollow-- 0 --Skew-- 0.60 --Hollow Shape-- Default --Twist Begin and End-- B: 360 E: 0 --Hole Size-- X: 0.60 Y: 0.50 --Top Shear-- X: 0.00 Y: 0.05 --Advanced Cut Begin and End-- B: 0.00 E: 0.05 --Taper-- X: -1.00 Y: -1.00 --Radius Delta-- 0.000 --Revolutions-- 1.00 ----------------------------------------- 4. Play with the sizes first to see if you get what you want... 5. Then try adjusting the other settings... and have fun

Excellent That was a great, helpful post, Micheal. I have a question about hair texture, which should probably go in *that* forum, but I couldn't find a suitable thread to dredge up and REALLY don't want to start ANOTHER thread about hair! I'm having an issue with the tips. I understand alphas and all that, it's just making one with a fine, hair-like edge to it. The texture itself I have. The edges elude me. I've studied enough in game to know what to aim for, but can't figure out how to get there. I'm trying to paint the edge in the alpha channel with a 'hair'-like brush, but can't seem to get it regular enough and not ugly and choppy. Nor can I make a selection that isn't ugly and false-looking. Do people use brushes to make the fine edges, or some other technique? Am I just short the right brush? Thanks in advance if anyone can offer any advice.
