I have a large house that is divided into 3 separate linked objects. One object has 43 prims, second object has 70 prims and last object has 143 prims. The last object is what I have problems with.

When I began the house build, I was very careful to place each prim in precise location and each prim is of precise size - everything was accurate to .001 in x,y,z coordinates and size.

When I completed the build, I linked and locked each of the 3 sections.

Now, after a day, I check the 3 sections, and the object with 143 prims is moved by .001 or sometimes more on x,y axis. Z axis never affected. This has happened to me 2 times! Sometimes, not all the prims have moved, so I cannot simply move the entire 143 prim ojbect back to where it belongs.

I have tried to move each affected prim by editing the linked parts and I have also tried unlinking the entire object, edit each prim and relinking everything, but the next day, the object is once again off by .001 or sometimes even a little more. The object was also LOCKED. It is strange that the other two objects do not move at all. Of course I have to unlock the object to read coordinates.

This is very frustrating and I wonder what causes this? There is also the problem with changing coordinates using the object position in the edit section that I enter a new number for x,y or z and it does not actually move the object!

Any suggestions?

It drives 1/4th of the building poulation NUCKING FUTS! and its inevitable some time back it started happening, this prim drift has always been evident since I started designing stuff early 06' everytime I'd log back in to continue working on a project I would notice this .001 difference, its only the sticklers that find it annoying though (so i can understand your frustration) just bite down and keep going, if anyone has founs a cure to this madness please let me know what it is!

Pieces of my house will drift off as far as 1-15cm (the latter gets a bit obvious when I tp and see the floor sticking through the front section :().

I've seen people suggest that it's better to build near the 0, 0 corner to avoid rounding errors (which is what you're describing and which is different from prim drift, I think?).

It took me a while to get into the habit, but when you enter a number, hit return as well and it'll always snap to where you want it to go.

I haven't seen any evidence that building close to 0,0,0 is any better for this particular problem. What's worse, that drift causes seams that are even *more* likely to cause avatars to "trip" on the seams and go flying! Try an entire day in "Always Run" mode, and see if you can make it a few hours without tripping on invisible seams. I dare ya :)

What I do not understand, of the 3 main objects, only one drifts, the other 2 never move.

I start a build in a corner that has good whole coordinate, 100,100,25 for example.

When I enter a xyz number, I usually hit the TAB key to go to next field, that is when sometimes the object or prim does not move. I will try to remember to use ENTER.
