Flappers, Elegance, and COLOR!
I am getting together a group of people who want to establish a Noir community. Think L.A Confidential, Moulin Rouge, and Chicago, with the sensibility of Dark City. Looming buildings and flickering streetlamps, smokey Jazz clubs, Vaudvillian theaters, Ladie in pixie cuts and pearls, men in jackets and ties. Be a private Detective, a dirty cop, a Can-Can girl or a Voluptioise Madam in a local club. Wild and dark decor with a splash of modern marks the era long gone but re-created in world.
A community called Gothika
Open to suggestions!

Sounds great to me. Keep me posted if this goes anywhere, or if there's anything I can do to help?

Thanks Gail. Currenty I am researching some of the Gothic architecture, the towering dark cityscapes, the domed catherdrals, the brick and cobblestone streets, the gargoyles, the graveyards. SOme of the archictecture is really amazing. I think the theme may be a bit similar to Bel's Cyber Punk City or Gothica has a more Noir, 1940's feel, that era of deadly dames and Gangsters, or superhero's and supervillains. Gothic will embrace a Gotham like sensibility, which should give the imagination a lot of room to run. I will provide screenshots in an upcoming post to give you an idea, aside from the films I mentioned before in the other post. Contact me in Game, i look forward to talking to you there is a notice about Gothika outside my shop in Natoma if you care to have a look. Thanks! Phaylen

A group is coming together in support of Gothika. Malichai Cartier has joined us in this effort. I have attached a grid to give individuals an idea of the concept layout. The city will be a decidedly dark, Noir/Gothic Metropolis with unique architecture, a shopping district, a residential district, and for those who wish to save money and taxes can take up residence in Gothika in a looming highrise apartment building while they save money or operate a shop. Another appealing aspect of Gothica is it's virtical reach, an expanse that will reach into the sky where there will be another portion of the city, a city on top of a city, if you will, with more opportunities to interconnect the two with winding walkways and architecture. Going for a gritty, Gotham City type atmosphere, the people incline to this type of surrounding can find an array of opportunity to open up shops, tattoo parlors, and other efforts.
Concept art to follow soon.

Bump. Have land plots been found for this, or is it in the works?
Edit: I should mention I have a brownstone built (and ready for daisy-chaining) that's looking for a home. It's a little simplistic at the moment, but it's been getting enough compliments that I suppose it's respectable as-is. The design is roughly '20s-era; around Boston, where I live, you get entire streets of these buildings linked together. Not sure if this is precisely the feel you're looking for, but the offer's there.

Phaylen - count me in, and you DEFINITELY must speak to Malaer. I don't know if you've seen his house yet but.. wow!
Thanix - say the word and I'll do my best to give you a private lesson on top of whatever classes you may be able to attend. I know I'm still very new at this but I learned a lot on my first build off the coffeehouse. <grins> And I'm always happy to help thy neighbor!

Play the game Grim Fandango, and take some artistic cues from the scenery in that game. This sounds like a really good idea.
