I've bought some land and starting building. I'm really enjoying it and am playing with adding lighting scripts etc... During some periods, my lag seems to spike - I'd like to keep lag as low as possible. Here are a few questions: Do scripted objects contribute more to lag than scriptless prims? Do textures have any impact at all on lag? Is there any land setting that reduces/increases lag? Do the total number of prims increase lag, or does it just naturally impact load time? Is there any in-game item that reduces lag (just a hope . Thank you in advance for any replies.

its like cancer, everything causes lag
theres also different kinds of lag
server/sim side is usually caused by essicive amounts of ppl, physics, updating objects (color changers and those type of things), and scripts or a few poorly written scripts
client side lag (your computer slowing down) happens when theres excessive amounts of LARGE textures, ppl, animations-particles ect, prims, and your preferances vs your computer power
and finally internet lag, weird packet loss, ect, thats caused by all kinds of things that could range into the obsurd, like a rat chewing a backbone, or even solar weather depending on where your packets get routed tru ... not much can be done there

Ask KatanaBlade Anubis for a copy of his guide to reducing lag in builds.

thank you both for your answers.
I'll get the guide.
btw: was anyone else there this morning when the server rezzed a at least 40 avs in exactly the same place - right before the crash - that was LAG.
