Hi I'll be building a number of homes to sell, the first one is in its finishing stages and wonder about the rez box. Do I need to buy these? Can I build one? I did a SL search for rez box but all I could see were other ppl's ready to vend their own products. The current home has 300 some prims.
So how does one put such a project into a rez box, and where to get the box?
Also a question about vending.
I'd like someone to see the photo of it on a vender, click the vender for a details notecard, to pay etc.
How does one usually do these things?
Thanks in advance -Zerock

I would recommend going to your competitors and seeing what they use. Once you see one of their vendors that you like, right-click it and then do More, More, and Inspect. Then click on Get Creator Profile. That person will probably have an entry in their Picks for their store.

Well you can use a builders buddy which is free in the wiki, or, I use rez-faux packaging for any homes I build, I believe it is unlimited prims, and makes for very easy placement for the buyer and its very simple to use as the creator.
As for vendors, I simply use a plain ole prim with pictures of the item on it, you can add scripts that allow to offer notecards, you may find some of these free in the scripting forum.
You can get rezzing vendors for homes also (though they can be a little costly if you are just starting out) and these can give you all the options you need. Show Image and give notecards at the same time. but obviously with these you will need a large plot of land to show and display your creations.
I'm sure more experienced residents will chime in and perhaps be a little more helpful.
Good Luck

I use Rez-faux to package the build, and then put that inside the "Boxed" package along with a notecard with instructions for the home/build and a landmark to my sales office.
For vending, I use HippoVend as it makes managing many products a little easier.
I also have my own demo/rezzer/vendor system that integrates with HippoVend as well and a pretty big parcel of land to display them to whoever is interested.
There are also freebies rezzers and vendors, but I prefer what I have now.

I've used several systems. I've found that if you need a Rezz box and rezzing vendor system, Jack in the Box is the best. They work together and both are easy to setup. you can buy package deals that include both.

is there a best?
if they do what they are supposed to do without screwing up they are all the best.
I use Zep Palen's stuff and am impressed with it.. because I am able to butcher them into pretty cool looking vendors to my needs and liking.. plus his rez box comes with the entire package of like 30 Vendors.. so its actually a bargain.

Rezfaux is better than JackInTheBox and BuildersBuddy is better than RezFaux. With Rezfaux, there is an API script which allows you to make a rezzing vendor of your own.
Just yesterday, I used BuildersBuddy to create the rezzing vendor, removing the need for RezFaux to do the same.
So there is a free alternative to do all your rezzing needs and it's not too difficult. You also learn as you do.
I would also believe that some rezzing boxes/vendors would be based on BB.

Thanks for all the responses. I ended up with Builders Buddy - Does what I need it to do and it's -Free-
To be able to reposition the item (house) after rezzing would have been a plus, and perhaps I can persue that in the future for the convenience of my customers.

BB does let you maneuver the build after rezzing. Move the box, the build moves/rotates with it. If you mean take the rezbox, drop it out again and move, I think it does that too. Could be an asset and a liability because other nearby BB objects may move too. Changing channels in the scripts will fix that.
I started with BB 2 years ago, bought a few rezzer tools since and have come full circle now I can understand the BB scripts better.

As for the other option: Yes, of course you can create your own rezbox scripts as well. It's just a bit of a shame to do so, since it does cost quite some time to develope something effective, while there are good ones available. You'd basically be re-inventing the wheel if you did. But, it is always interresting to try to make one, parts of the script can be used for other things than just rezzing a house. Once you figure out the workings, possibilities and limitations of rezboxes, holodecks and intereactive furniture will be only a small step away.
