This is not the post you think it is.

I still think the idea of a completely resident built co-op commercial town is a good idea and a cool project. But right now I have "been-there-done-that" feelings towards the whole thing, and want to move on to different projects.

So, I will probably be joining one of the already suggested projects, not starting my own group. If you were interested in working on New Lindenburg, but were waiting for me to make some kind of announcement, this is your answer.

I will offer to following advice to future city councils though:

-Create a town charter with the rules for joining the town, building your building and ongoing residency. The Lindenburg rules are a good starting point for this probably.

-Have a small set of really good exterior and interior textures, strongly encourage people to use only those textures in their store or have a rule that people can use as many of the common textures as they want, but only 4 or 5 personal textures.

-Plan the layout of the town, or at least things like block-sizes, street widths and park frequency for minimal laggishness. Andrew has posted methods for doing this in the forums, and I'm sure he and other Lindens would offer further advice

-Don't work too hard. Give people the rules and the tools and let them go.
