Someone told my girl that you can "rubber band" a house, and move it to it's new location.
Could someone give me the steps and procedure necessary for this to work. Forever grateful,

get above the building or someplace that you can see the whole thing then in Tools click on the Select Only My Objects then in edit mode click and drag a yellow outlined rectangle over the whole building, then right click and choose Take..... it will go into your inventory as one item then go to the new area and drop it :)

does anyone know how big a house or how many prim you can select & still have this work? i have a home that takes up a whole 4096 parcel that is 15 different pieces for a total of 900ish prim including inside decorations.

i want to move but don't relish reconstructing my home & redecorating......is this a viable option for me?

I dont know for sure but why not try it using Take Copy instead of Take and check? :)

Yeah, dump it in an empty area of a sandbox to test to make sure how things rez back. 900 prims sounds about fine to me, I've tested with larger amounts like 2000+ and then it gets quite unreliable upon re-rezzing, but do lots of tests and pack it lovingly. Best of hope! :)

This can work great but be careful when you put a house in edit mode, then drag it while still in edit across a sim border, it can make the house completely break up into pieces, and then disassemble and delink and get lost for awhile.

When I cleared my plot in Purple, I did a 'take' on a thousand plus unlinked objects covering the entire plot. My client became somewhat unresponsive for nearly half hour, but it worked! So if I ever feel the need, I can rerez my luxury 4000m/2 hobbit hole from a single object. :)

I really advise linking it into as many larger blocks as you can. It's will save a lot of trouble when doing this. Also remember the following:

Most doors, TPs, and scripted systems that move will have to be corrected.

When moving or rotating the build copy, be prepaired for it to glitch horribly on occasion. It took about 10 tries total to get a 200 object, 600 prim building to move and rotate properly.

Other than that, it just takes patience...

Good luck!
