So i made a building out of simple objects (squares and a pyramid) and i learned that u have to use a sphere in a program like wings3D.... i hate wings3D it way different then Rhino3d. Is there a way to make a rhino3D object work in secondlife? Do you have to use a sphere or can we use different objects? (if so what ones) If not, is there software simpler to rhino3D or soilworks that is meant for secondlife or has plug-ins or w/e.

I always thought Rhino would be great for sculpties. Since it's a dedicated NURBS platform, its user base should be able to create sculpty-compatible objects almost as second nature, at least in theory. That said, I've never actually used the program myself, so I can't say anything for certain.
Unless I'm mistaken, there's not currently a sculpty exporter plugin available directly for Rhino. On the sculpty wiki, someone recommended using 3dm2sculpt as a go-between. http://wiki.secondlife.com/wiki/Sculpted_Prims:_3d_Software_Guide#Rhinoceros_.28McNeel.29 There's a link from there to a tutorial of sorts, but it's all one giant paragraph, so it's nearly impossible to read. I gave up after the first two or three sentences. Good luck. As for your spheres question, it's not spheres per se that are the basis of sculpties. What's important is that every object ultimately be unfoldable into a single rectangle. A spheres is just one example of topology that happens to fit that description. Take a rectangle, stitch two sides together, collapse the other two to form poles, and you've got a sphere. Other stitching types that work are cylinders, toruses, and of course, planes. Most sculpty tutorials will suggest starting with spheres because spherical stitching was the first type supported in SL. The others came later. Spherical is still the default. _____________________
