Just wondering if it’s possible to link several panels together and still have all linked panels only at one prim. I am trying to make a panel with the grass texture,, I make one panel at the max size allowed (10x10 I think it is) then copied that panel and link the two together .. but I end up with 2 prim … if this is possible it would be great, cuz I need to make a panel that is like 5-6 panels linked together. TIA

You would have one "object" but still 6 prims. If you are making a 60x10 wall, they will not link - pieces will be too far apart. But you should be able to make a 20x30 or a 30x20 okay (still 6 prims though).

Mega Prims

Look for mega prims, 20x20 is great for landscaping, grass etc..there are all kinds of megaprims out there. Linking will be a problem though on your size issues due to limitations.

Be careful with mega prims though, above 256 meters they generate too much lag:

Also be careful when rezzing them, because some are of the size of a sim, generally spheres, and the ones that has "65536" in their name.

"above" meaning "larger than" not "higher than". I'm pretty sure that height above ground (within reason) has no bearing on the large prim lag issue.

Anything bigger than a sim will cause bad lag essentially.

And height doesn't really hurt anything, nope, until you get to extreme heights, as in in the thousands.

I've had megas up to around 750 meters, so no worries there ^_^

the problem with w/ megas and handoff to other sims is in spanning more than the neighboring sim... but really you only want a little sim overlap anyway, since even normal prims fail to be solid form the other sims side most times... as with anything, keep it within your property, and avoid sim crossing structures (a little overlap to match up walkways so you don't fall through is normal if you're the owner on both sides)
