Furniture rezzing in mid-air...

I've recently begun creating furniture, and I've run into something really annoying with some of my pieces... when dragging them from my inventory onto the ground, they will rezz a few feet above the ground, and sometimes at odd angles--this makes positioning a real pain.

I finally realized it's because I'm using "cut" cylinders as the feet for these particular pieces, and the SL physics engine is "seeing" the part of the cylinder that has been cut--so if the cylinder were whole, it would indeed be resting on the ground, and not appear in midair.

Is there ANY way to get around this? I rather like my curved little feet, and can't think of a way to fashion them without using a cut shape.
