how do i make lightsabers tht hum and wot do i put in the lightsabers so they work

can sm1 please tell me how 2 make a lightsaber that hums and that can go in nd out nd that iz strong and that can throw thnx

There are two bits to this - there's making the object out of prims (shapes) and there's making the object do stuff.

The hard part (IMO) is the making it do stuff bit - that involves LSL (Linden Scripting Language). I thoroughly recommend you do one of the free in world classes in it. I did one at the Learning Center but there are others in world too.

To get it to make a sound you need to get/make the sound, convert it into a WAV and upload it. You then get the object to play the sound when you want using the script.

I'd start off with making a light sabre that was just a light. Make the shape (at a guess out of cylinders) and get it to look the part. Go and play in a sandbox - you can build there 24/7 and there's always people around to get ideas from.

To make it go in and out (whilst you have it in your hand) will need a trick with transparency. I know nothing about how combat and damage enabled places work sorry.

if you look around in world you will notice a bazillion and one versions of the light saber, you could simply purchase these existing ones if your would like.

if you want to make one, you will have to upload the sounds (optional) and find a script (or make one) to be incorporated in the prim saber you create.
