Hi
Is there an off line client or any other program which will allow one to build/rez/texture etc off line, like on a non-connected laptop at a train station?
Granted the textures and some other things would need to be stored local HDD.

Thanks in advance

theres a blender script in the forums that lets you build offline.

Textures are always made offline. SL has no internal texturing tools whatsoever.

As for building, there are a few options. If you're talking about sculpties, that's done offline as well. There are a few resident-made in-world tools that will generate sculpt maps in creative ways, but for the most part, sculpties are made in third party 3D modeling programs like Maya, 3DS Max, Blender, Wings 3D, etc.

For regular prims, there are plugins for Blender, Maya, and possibly a few others, that will allow you to create SL-style prim models that can then be recreated via script in-world. There's also a program called Henshin for rebuilding AutoCAD models in SL. But 99% of what you see in-world was built directly in-world.

you could also, as another option, downlaod one of the open space clients, this will let you build offline on your harddrive, effectivly haveing a full sim (or several) to yourself, but, and a very big but, you will need to transfer textures to your hard drive and also you will NOT be able to transfer it to the main grid.

So your final Nimbus Score is 8.15, a quite remarkable achievement for a biped. Congratulations Crunch, you should be very proud. :-)

Shack Dougall's Prim Composer for 3ds Max will do all that. http://liferain.com/downloads/primcomposer/ It's based off of an older offline builder (SLprims) which was based off of the Blender builder. Each one improves on the previous version in my opinion.

You can build and texture (in the sense of putting texture maps on prims) offline, then upload the prims and textures to SL or Open Sim. It also includes the SculptGenMax sculptie authoring scripts that can generate and upload sculptie maps as well. Best of all it's free to download.
