Octagonal towers

I'm sure this is a silly question, but it clicked that before I hit my head on this any further, the intellegent thing to do would be to ask experts.

I'm working on a tudor manor, and it has octagonal towers.

Is there any other way to do this, other than make 8 tall and skinny flat panels and join them together?

I don't think so, but I'll feel stupid if there was and I didn't ask.

Make 4 hollow ones, on side at 0 45 90 and 135 rotations. Use cuts for access if necessary.
