Hi,
I have a BSD house that is fully modifiable. For some reason, when I edit linked parts, and alter any piece of the building (and then click edit linked parts back off), the root prim of the building acts as if it is phantom. I have checked the settings repeatedly and there are no phantom prims in the root, or anywhere near it. It just acts like it is phantom, and we sink down into the floor whenever we walk on that specific prim (which is NOT the prim I was modifying, anyway).
Does anyone have any ideas? Any suggests about how to isolate a single prim to edit or delete, without impacting any other prims in the build? I am at a loss as to what would cause it to act like this. I even rezzed a new build and started over, only to have the same thing happen.
Thanks,
Princess Ivory

Are any parts of the linkset phantom at *all*? Typically a linkset can be phantom or nonphantom but there are some unofficial, undocumented, and completely unreliable methods for making some links in a linkset phantom and others not. Of course if you touch it, it breaks, which is what might be happening in your case. Thats poor packaging, really; if you have a build that needs to be partially phantom, you can package it up with a unlinked build manager like Rez Faux.

I don't think any of the house is phantom at all. I'm not sure what is causing it. I thought it was just SL being buggy last night, but it is doing it today too, even on a newly rezzed copy of the house. It obviously has something to do with "edit" linked parts" but darned if I know what. I just wanted to remove a wall between two rooms inside the house; I'm not trying for any major reconstruction or modification. Princess Ivory

If no part of the house is phantom, what happens when you unlink and relink it?

In a linked set, it's all phantom or no phantom. If the roof is acting as phantom in a linked set, perhaps the prim is corrupted. You should unlink it, copy and delete the original prim. Then relink to set.

I think prim has been corrupted. I have experienced this sometimes and this usually fixes it:
1. Open the edit and select Edit Linked parts 2. Select the prim that has this problem 3. Change the prim's hollow setting by clicking the Up / Down and then return it to previous setting. 4. Test it out!
If it doesn't fix it, then unlink the problem prim and do the same trick with changing the hollow setting and relinking it back. Remember last object you ctrl-click on is going to be root prim of the object.

I don't seem to be able to relink objects back to the group. I get a message that says they are too far apart to link. I don't know how this can be, as they were all initially linked. In addition to the weird phantom prim, I am trying to relink a piece of wall that I edited. That is when I get the message that the parts are too far apart. This is driving me nuts! It's a basic freebie mod house that I am trying to make a very minor mod to. And how do I unlink just one piece? When I select "edit linked parts" and then I unlink that part, the entire house becomes unlinked. Is there something obvious I am missing here?

From: Princess Ivory In addition to the weird phantom prim On the weird 'phantom' prim try this. Select just that prim and change the hollow to a value other than zero, then bring it back to zero. I keep having prims that become 'hollow' that are not and I fall through them. Changing this property clears the problem up.
