What's occuring with the colour palette?

So today I log in to embark upon another day of glorious creative awesomeness. I start building and open my colour palette to apply colour to a prim...and it's changed.

Oooh I though that looks different....and it was.

Within about 3 seconds "ooh look at the nice new colour palette" turned into "what have those twats done now!".

It would seem I can no longer 'apply colour' to a prim whilst the palette is open. Normally I will cycle through a variety of colours checking out the effect on the prim as I go. Now it would seem you need to select the colour and close the palette before the colour is applied to the prim. Kind of 'click and hope for the best' technique

Just took me 10 mins to select the colour I was looking for. Should have taken me less than a minute.

Im not a happy camper.

Hopefully i am missing something blatently obvious and someone more enlightented will come along tell me what i am doing wrong.

If this doesnt happen I am gonna start boiling some bunnies!

Try checking the little box at the bottom.

Apply Immediately


That will allow you to select random colours before closing the edit menu and you can cycle through the colours you want to apply.

Always been there to my knowledge and has yet not changed.

I'm not sure what you think has changed, Porky. Did your preferences perhaps get changed? On the General tab, you do have the option to choose between your OS default color picker, and SL's built-in one. If you use the OS one, you won't have the Apply Immediately checkbox available, so that would explain why that feature wasn't working for you.

Larrie, not that it really matters, but just so you know, the checkbox hasn't always been there. It's been maybe two years, if I remember correctly, since it was added. Before that, immediate application was the only option. What the checkbox gave us was the ability to turn it off.

Yep you are right, thanks Chosen. didn't know that option was in the prefs and don't know how I activated it but very glad I have resolved the issue.
