Just wondering if there is any other way other than with sculpties to make a rounded cornered (and edged) box. Anyone know of any tricks?

There was a thread on this quite a while back. Someone made brilliant use of texturing to give a rounded look to cube prims.

Prim heavy, but yeah. Use spheres (dimpled and path cut) for the corners of the build, cylinders for the straight walls, and flattened boxes for the roof and floor.

So basically, 10 prims to create the look of the single prim sculpty box.

That's how a lot of skyboxes are made to look more futuristic than just a box in the sky.

Three cylinders all sized 1,1,1 (or whatever) all in the same location. Set one rotation to 0,0,0, one to 0,90,0, and one to 90,0,0.

The "rounded corners" are more like dents, but it's only three prims. It looks like a rounded cube if you put an irregular texture on it. It might work depending on what you need. -- KC

If I can ask, any particular reason you wouldn't want to use a sculpted prim to get this shape? Knowing this might help to better answer your question.

If you're trying to make a large, rounded cube shape that you can walk on more accurately for example, you should be able to put out your rounded cube sculpt and then place a flat cube inside right below the surface.
